In Bucharest — a city where historic architecture and contemporary energy coexist — the arrival experience matters. At Vision Apartments & La Lup Bistro, that experience begins with light. Specifically, with decorative lighting that carries both atmosphere and intention: willowlamp’s sculptural Big Love Clover chandeliers.
These custom installations were crafted in Cape Town and brought to life in Bucharest to create a signature moment for guests — the kind of lighting that doesn’t simply illuminate a space, but defines it. Warm, inviting and unmistakably sculptural, the Big Love Clover collection of chandeliers and wall sconces brings a sense of heart to a most interesting hospitality destination.
A Restaurant Where Design Sets the Tone
La Lup sits at the centre of VISIONAPARTMENTS Buccharest, a building grounded in modern design and elevated service. The restaurant itself is an exquisite balance of sleek lines, rich textures and warm materials — a place that feels calm, elegant and quietly luxurious.
Basel is known for its cultural vibrancy and contemporary architecture, and La Lup mirrors this spirit beautifully. Everything is intentional, from the finishes to the textures. The lighting completes the story: soft, warm and atmospheric, it invites guests to slow down, settle in and experience the room with all senses engaged.
This is where the Big Love Clover plays its part — not as a task light, but as a sculptural centrepiece that breathes life and warmth into the space.
A Signature Installation: Big Love Clover in the Lobby & Bistro
Vision Apartments selected the Big Love Clover for its symbolic shape and expressive presence. Inspired by the universal motif of the four-leaf clover, the chandelier takes on a fluid, contemporary form through cascading metal chains and a laser-cut steel frame.
The installation features:
✦ Multiple Big Love Clover chandeliers, suspended at varying heights
✦ Coordinating wall sconces that extend the visual language into transitional spaces
✦ Custom sizes and drop lengths tailored to the architecture
✦ A lighting narrative that begins in the lobby and flows naturally into La Lup
It creates a sense of rhythm between the arrival moment and the dining experience — a cohesive lighting identity that links the guest journey together.
Craftsmanship From Cape Town to Bucharest
Every willowlamp piece is handmade in Cape Town by artisans who assemble hundreds of ball-chain strands one by one. Each chandelier is crafted using:
✦ a laser-cut stainless steel frame
✦ willowlamp’s patented notch system for perfect chain alignment
✦ bespoke finishes selected to complement the interior palette
Available in Black Oxide, Brass, Copper, Silver Chrome, Smoke Gunmetal, Mixed Metallics, or custom blends, the Big Love Clover can adapt to any environment — hospitality, residential or architectural.
For Vision Apartments, the result is a lighting installation that feels both global and personal: a custom piece that brings African craftsmanship into a European design context.
How Decorative Lighting Works Within a Layered Scheme
Although dramatic and atmospheric, the Big Love Clover isn’t designed as a task light. It belongs to the decorative lighting layer — the expressive, sculptural component of a lighting plan.
In hospitality spaces like La Lup, decorative lighting is supported by:
✓ architectural downlights for practical brightness
✓ concealed LED coves for ambient wash
✓ wall sconces for softness and depth
✓ targeted task lighting where needed
One chandelier becomes multiple lighting layers at once — ambient, accent, decorative and sculptural. Importantly, decorative lighting should always be paired with functional light sources tailored to the space, ensuring clarity, comfort and usability.
This is what allows the Big Love Clover to shine: it sets the mood while the supporting layers complete the room.
Why It Works: Heart, Mood & Identity
For Vision Apartments, the lighting does more than brighten a room — it communicates a brand philosophy. It signals care, detail and a sense of hospitality that extends from the lobby to the last meal of the evening.
For La Lup, the lighting creates atmosphere. It transforms the space into one that feels warm, sensual and connected — a place guests want to experience again.
And for willowlamp, this project represents the power of decorative lighting with heart: a sculptural expression that holds emotion as much as light.
