Going Virtual

This month we’ll be exhibiting virtually as part of 100% Design South Africa 2020. Due to lockdown restrictions, Africa’s leading product design trade exhibition has converted to an online only affair for 2020. Visit willowlamp at our digital display booth from 7-9 October 2020. Members of the architecture and interior design professions who register to attend gain free access to the show. Please register here to interact with us in this new virtual dimension.

Requiring an impressive 26 cubic meters of space just to hang it, and weighing over a tonne, willowlamp’s new custom chandelier is currently making its way across the Atlantic to the USA, to the new high-end Marriott Hotel in Charlotte, Virginia. willowlamp was commissioned to create this unique statement piece by Chicago’s Simeone Deary Design Group, on behalf of Marriott International. The Simone Dreary Group has worked with willowlamp previously, and in 2014, commissioned several willowlamp Flower of Life chandeliers for the Hotel Allegro in Chicago.

Lucid Lighting

Recently, we completed a substantial commission for London-based Atelier West Architects for their restaurant project within the Lucerne Culture and Congress Centre (KKL Luzern) in Lucerne, Switzerland. A number of our chandeliers have been artfully installed at the upmarket Lucide eatery. The KKL Luzern building, which is designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, is a venue for concerts, congresses, meetings, conferences, panel discussions and events in the middle of the city of Lucerne, and is poised at the end of a lake.

Spring’s the thing!

There has been a phenomenal floral show this Spring, thanks to plentiful winter rain. The blooming abundance puts us in mind of all our flower-inspired designs. There’s a Fuschia, Protea, Rose, Flower of Life, Moonflower, Crocus, Frangipani… even a Lotus Mandala. What flower do you think we should take inspiration from next? Let us know on our social media and we may start to collaborate with you to prototype your suggestion!
